Open to Raya families

Raya borrowed a Swedish word - *fika*, the ritual of coffee and something sweet with people who matter - for its first induction. It was the first time the whole community stood in one place.

How Raya's First Day Actually Began

Fika is Swedish for the pause: coffee, something sweet, unhurried company. Raya built its first parent-student induction around it, on purpose. The morning wasn't about logistics. It was for parents, students, and a newly hired faculty to meet each other before the school had a single ordinary day behind it.

Parents heard what Raya stands for. Teachers introduced themselves. The campus filled with the small activities that turn strangers into a community.

It was the first time Raya existed as more than a building and a plan — the first time it was a room full of people who had chosen it.
